Paris Peru: Cencosud announces the closure of stores starting this Wednesday, July 1 | Shopping centers | Department stores

He Cencosud Group, one of the main conglomerates in Chile and leader in the retail sector, announced this Tuesday that from Wednesday, July 1, it will close the operations of all its stores Paris Peru.

The conglomerate, controlled by the Chilean-German businessman Horst Paulmann, has currently 11 stores in Peru, where according to the information offered it is the fourth operator in the market and “The results and expected participation have not been achieved to guarantee the sustainability of the operation”.

The group detailed that the workers of these stores will be relocated in the operation of Wong and Metro Supermarkets with the salary and working conditions of these brands and those who do not accept may qualify for a retirement plan.

In addition, the holding company reported in a statement that Chile Paris stores will absorb another of its retail brands, Johnson, creating a new format called “Paris Express”, focused on the commercialization of clothing, footwear and sports.

In Chile, the stores that are not absorbed will be closed in July and August and the workers will be relocated by Paris to the different Cencosud brands, offering them the salary and working conditions of these flags.

Those workers who do not accept these conditions may also qualify for a retirement plan.

“This unification of brands will enhance the Paris brand in Chile, generating new commercial, operational and logistical synergies, strengthening its omnichannel strategy, and seeking greater competitiveness and sustainability, offering better service, assortment and quality to its clients,” the corporate statement detailed. .

He Cencosud Group has operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru and he owns Jumbo hypermarkets and brands such as Paris, Johnson and Eurofashion.

At the beginning of May, these three subsidiaries accepted the Chilean Employment Protection Law, which allows workers who have been suspended for reasons related to the coronavirus pandemic to collect unemployment benefits, a measure that affected 7,731 workers.
