Paris: man dies crushed by metro after falling on rails

Terrible absurd drama. A 23-year-old young man died Thursday late in the day after being hit by the Paris metro, at Porte de Versailles metro station (15th), on line 12.

This Friday, the police of the 3rd DPJ (judicial police district), in charge of the investigation, interviewed the witnesses. The scene was viewed by investigators who recovered RATP video surveillance films.

It is 5:49 pm this Thursday when a small group of friends, noisy and drunk, heckle on the platforms of the station. At that hour, dozens of passengers are waiting for their oar.

The little band leaves the agricultural fair, Porte de Versailles. One of them has the idea of urinating on the tracks. Another approaches and the belt “for laughs”. A third joins but imbalances them. Whoever urinates falls on the tracks. A metro is coming. The driver has no time to brake. The young man dies crushed.

His friends taken into custody

Help is called. Police and firefighters from the Plaisance and Grenelle barracks converge on the station. The man is rescued, in vain. At 6:07 p.m., he was declared dead by the Samu doctor at Necker Hospital.

The crime scene is frozen by the judicial police officer of the 15th century police station. The 3rd DPJ (judicial police district) arrives at the scene to collect traces and clues. At 10.50 p.m., the funeral service takes the young man’s body to the Forensic Institute, Quai de la Rapée (XIIe) for an autopsy. Toxicological tests will be carried out to assess in particular his alcohol level.

His two friends, aged 26 and 28, were arrested for being taken into police custody. In shock, they had to be hospitalized in relative emergency. They should be prosecuted for manslaughter. Witnesses in shock were also taken care of by the firefighters.
