Paris and Île-de-France on yellow weather alert this Tuesday

Météo France has placed Paris and the whole of Île-de-France on yellow alert for strong winds and rain this Tuesday, January 2. Gusts of up to 100 km/h and moderate rainfall are expected in the region, potentially causing disruption.

Weather Paris: Strong winds and rain approaching the capital and its region

According to the forecasts of Meteo France, a southwest wind will blow over Paris and its little crown in the second part of the night, with gusts of up to 65 km/h. These squalls will be accompanied by rain.

Tuesday late morning and early afternoon, the wind will strengthen significantly. Gusts going up to 75 km/h are expectedThen 95 km/h at the end of the day.

In parallel, Heavy rainfall is forecast from 10 a.m. until the evening, around 7 p.m. Given the soils already saturated with water, this rain presents a risk of localized flooding.

61 departments on alert throughout France

In total, 10 departments have been placed on orange alert and 61 on yellow alert by Météo France, including 8 in Île-de-France. The meteorological institute indeed predicts a significant rainy episode in the northern half of the country.

In addition to Paris and its inner suburbs, the Ile-de-France departments concerned by yellow vigilance are:

  • Hauts-de-Seine
  • Seine-Saint-Denis
  • Val de Marne
  • Val d’Oise
  • Yvelines
  • Essonne
  • Seine et Marne

Call for caution

Given the violent winds and rain forecast, the greatest caution is required in Île-de-France this Tuesday. Météo France recommends avoiding travel and walks in the forest, and putting away objects likely to be blown away by the wind.

Yellow vigilance runs until Wednesday January 3 at midnight. The authorities are calling on Ile-de-France residents to follow the instructions and take the necessary precautions in the face of this new episode of disruption.
