‘Parents’ share in allowance tax office not satisfied with compensation’ NOW

A part of the parents whose childcare allowance has been incorrectly reclaimed does not agree with the compensation offered by the Tax Authorities. That reports Faithful Saturday.

The newspaper writes that the group, which consists of about fifty victims from Eindhoven, wants to force the tax authorities to make a better proposal through their lawyer.

The amounts that the victims receive in the so-called CAF 11 case range from 20,000 euros to 66,000 euros. According to Faithful the group of victims themselves go to court if they are unable to reach higher compensation through their lawyer with the Tax Authorities.

According to the newspaper, the parents are of the opinion that the tax authorities do not take their situation sufficiently into account. The proposal would not do enough justice to the further damage suffered by the parents, such as the loss of a home or job.

Hundreds and probably thousands of parents have been wrongfully identified as fraudsters by the Tax Authorities. Civil servants proceeded to discontinue and reclaim the childcare allowance, causing several parents to face major financial difficulties. Others lost their house and relationships broke down. The persons responsible for the tax authorities described the practice as “day of packing”.

Responsible State Secretary Menno Snel resigned last December after new revelations showing that the ministry again did not actively inform the House and after several parents received black lacquered files that did not indicate why they had been labeled fraudulent by the Tax Authorities.
