Parents promote the hashtag #VacunaParaEstudiantes on Twitter

Through banners, parents of different entities of the Republic asked the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) and the government of the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stop the back to class until minors are vaccinated against Covid-19.

With the hashtag #VaccineForStudents, the tutors published images on social networks with complaints towards the federal administration, for forcing a return to the classrooms on August 30, despite the fact that the Ministry of Health (Ssa) this Friday located seven entities in red color of the epidemiological traffic light, 15 in orange, nine in yellow and only one in green.

“Parents do not agree that our children return to school if they are not vaccinated” and “without vaccines there is no safe return for students”, are just some of the claims in which parents, in the company of their children , pose on Twitter with claims for the agency headed by Delfina Gomez.

Just this Thursday, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, reported that from the Ssa there will be no impediment for minors to resume their studies in person.

He clarified in the virtual meeting with the leaders that make up the National Conference of Governors that, even if the entities are in the red color of the epidemiological traffic light, they may start the 2021-22 school year, as education is an essential activity.

“The education sector has a similar high priority and in fact, conceptually, the same as the essential activities that we had considered in the healthy distance journey … it is an essential activity, so it is not subject to restrictions, even when we have the red light, “he said.

The foregoing is in addition to the statements made by President López Obrador, who this Friday spoke about it and urged to return to classes, because “we can no longer have children locked up, or depending entirely, completely on Nintendo” .

He has previously said that the reasons why a large sector of the population refuses to return to the classroom is “due to ignorance” or “vested interests.”
