Karviná gained significant reinforcement to the offensive before the start of the new first league season. The Slezany will be played by Michal Papadopulos, a 35-year-old former national team striker, who has signed a one-year contract with the club. The people of Karviná also hired Martin Šindelář. However, the transfer of the 29-year-old stopper will not take effect until Monday, the day after the match between these clubs in the first league.
Papadopulos will present himself in the Czech league more than 11 years after leaving Mladá Boleslav. Before that, he also played the highest competition for Baník Ostrava, of which he is a pupil. He worked abroad in Arsenal, Leverkusen, Cottbus, Heerenveen, Sochi, Rostov, Lubin, Gliwice and most recently in another Polish club, Korona Kielce, which came down to the highest competition.
Papadopulos has 80 matches and 19 goals in the Czech league. Between 2008 and 2010, he played six matches for the national team A-team. “Michal is an excellent striker, he will definitely have respect from his opponents, he is a personality. Papadopulos already trained with Karviná during the summer training and played one match. After a week’s deliberations, he accepted the Slezan offer. “It was mainly the family side that decided. I was abroad for quite a long time, and even though I still had a valid contract in Kielce for a year, we agreed to untie myself. I wanted to be close to home and Karviná is a short distance from Ostrava. in the club made a very good impression in many ways and it was even easier to make my decision, “ said Papadopoulos.
Šindelář was already a guest in Karviná in the spring. At the beginning of the preparation, he returned to Baník, but finally, shortly before the start of the season, the clubs agreed on a transfer.
“We wanted to get Martin from Baník, he convinced us with his performances. He himself was also interested in working for us, which is positive and important. We are glad that the negotiations on his transfer to us were successfully completed.” said Wolf.
