According to the Taliban, Panjshir’s forces in northern Afghanistan are only a minor annoyance that can be resolved through talks or by military force.
“It’s not a big problem. Only two people want to continue the war, Amrullah Saleh and Ahmad Massoud,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Russian media.

Mujahid has been appointed information minister in the Taliban -formed government. He explained about the Panjshir resistance movement in the north of the country.

The Panjshir Valley is located about 150 km north of Kabul. The region was a stronghold of resistance against the Taliban who had taken control of Kabul and much of the country during Afghanistan’s civil war in the 1990s.

Panjshir’s resistance was led by Ahmad Shah Massoud, a charismatic militia commander known as a US-backed anti-Soviet guerrilla fighter.
