7 pm “Valmiera Glass VIA” – BK “Ogre”: Best4sport TV

The people of Valmiera started the season with a convincing victory over “University of Latvia” (85:70), “Ogre” convincingly capitulated to the “VEF Rīga” team (63:81).

In the first round, Edmunds Elksnis from Valmiera stood out with 13 assists and Māris Ziediņš and Ervīns Jonāts, who are playing in Valmiera again, made a tangible contribution to the team’s victory. The victory won in Riga will have increased confidence and excitement before making its debut on the pitch.

Kaspars Bērziņš confirmed his class in the first match in the “Ogre” team, but others, to put it mildly, have the opportunity to play better. In Valmiera, we will see whether the failures of the first game could be explained only by the great power of the opponents and the stress of the debut itself.

7 pm BC “Ventspils” – “University of Latvia”: Pafbet LAT-EST YouTube

Ventspils residents won a happy victory in Liepāja at the top of the start match (92:91), students lost to Valmiera (70:85).

Among the home team we will see the main character of the first round Māris Gulbi (33 points), the head of the match of the “University of Latvia” Nikolajs Zotovs takes the second place in the list of the most productive players (24). The composition of “Ventspils” seems more powerful, but recently the victory in the test game was not convincing at all.

19:30 “VEF Rīga” – BC “Liepāja”: Pafbet LAT-EST YouTube

In the introductory match, the champions’ core forces demonstrated power and quality in both defense and attack. “Ogre” was beaten convincingly (81:63), the court, however, did not fully answer the questions about the ability to maintain the quality of performance for the whole 40 minutes. Focus – Aigars Šķēle (19 points in 23 minutes, 6 assists and +31).

The new model from Liepāja deserved more than 91:92 in the first match, but the end of the game was a sharp reminder of the importance of experience and cold blood. The center Ilya Gromov (24 points) definitely has something to prove to his former team, but the ability of “Liepaja” will depend on the stability of the players of the outside line in the attack and uncompromising defense.
