The Vegas Golden Knights are reportedly looking to trade forward Max Pacioretty in order to make room in their payroll.
This is what the TSN network said on Tuesday evening.
In this offseason, the Nevada club awarded a seven-year, $ 8.8 million contract to defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. This causes it to exceed the limit allowed by the Bettman Circuit by around $ 1M.
In 2020-2021, the former captain of the Montreal Canadiens will play the second season of a four-year agreement that earns him $ 7 million annually.
Pacioretty was the Golden Knights’ leading scorer and scorer last season, amassing 32 goals and 34 assists for 66 points in 71 games.
Vegas acquired the 32-year-old from the CH on September 10, 2018. In return, the Habs got forwards Nick Suzuki and Tomas Tatar, as well as a second-round pick in the 2019 draft.
Pacioretty had been a first-round pick (22e overall) for the Canadiens in the 2007 auction. In 763 games in the National League, he hit the target 280 times and provided 274 assists for 554 points.
