The focus of the new P40 smartphone series from Huawei is once again on the camera. Huawei’s Global Senior Product Marketing Manager chatted out of the box.
Smartphones are increasingly replacing compact cameras with their camera qualities and are even scratching the performance of expensive SLR systems. Huawei in particular continues to set new standards in innovations and photo quality. Most recently, the new Huawei P40 Pro has taken the top spot among the DxO Mark experts as the new king.
Depending on the model, the P40 series offers three to five lenses on the back, the camera system was again developed in cooperation with Leica. The P40 models are not just about offering as many photo options as possible and enabling the best pictures, Marketing Manager Peter Gauden says in an interview: Not just a professional photographer, “Everyone should simply snap the perfect picture at the push of a button can”.
Should satisfy every photographer
The P40 series was developed to “satisfy every type of smartphone camera enthusiast”. To do this, they also installed a new 50-megapixel sensor in the P40 series, which as the 1 / 1.28-inch sensor is the largest ever installed in a smartphone. According to Gauden, this allows more light to be absorbed and details to be better emphasized.
The fact that different manufacturers have many different solutions for camera systems is something like cooking, says Gauden. Everyone has the ingredients, but Huawei manages to set new standards with the result. The chip succeeded in giving the P40 camera a larger focal length and a smaller aperture. “The main focus of the P40 series was on providing the best photo experience for everyone,” said Gauden.
Goal: the perfect picture at the push of a button
Huawei’s innovations would not end with the photos. You can also set the tone for mobile photography with the 10x optical zoom in the P40 Pro +, since this will take you into the area of ”some DSLR kit lenses for beginners”. It is also not enough to simply install good lenses, the interaction with sensors, processor and software must be right.
It was also possible to enable “brilliantly beautiful video recordings”. Ultimately, newbies and beginners shouldn’t have to worry about specifications and technologies. With the P40, Huawei is supplying a smartphone “that you only have to take out of your pocket and press the shutter release button to get a perfect picture,” said Gauden.
