Overpaid money for centennial Song Festival tickets is waiting for six months / Article / LSM.lv

More than half a year has passed since the Latvian National Cultural Center (LNKC), the organizer of the Song and Dance Festival, and the ticket seller SIA Biļešu paradīze agreed to return unreasonably charged commissions to buyers. Holders of tickets purchased online have still not been invited to apply for money.

The desire to reach the ranks of the audience of the 26th General Latvian Song and 16th Dance Festival two years ago was so great that ticket sales not only in person, but also on the Internet caused a great stir. People waited for hours when they saw a window open on their computer or smart device, with the opportunity to buy the coveted tickets. Some expected, but some did not.

Those who were lucky enough to get a ticket, as it turned out later, overpaid the commission applied by the internet merchant – 7.37% of the ticket price. This fee was later found to be unreasonable. Both sides earlier this year agreed to refund them, who will be able and able to prove it with documents in order to terminate possible legal proceedings.

“It is absolutely certain that in case of any outcome, the other party would appeal the judgment, there would be several instances, several years, they would be expected for the next song festival in court,” said Jānis Ķuzulis, Chairman of the Board of SIA “Biļešu paradīze”, earlier this year.

Next The song The holiday is not yet expected, but more than half a year after the promise to repay the money has passed.

“This money, which has been recovered by the National Cultural Center, does not belong to the National Cultural Center, it belongs to people who bought tickets to song and dance festival events,” said Signe Pujāte, the head of LNKC, earlier this year.

LNKC undertook to return to buyers more than 76,500 euros. It is still unknown when ticket buyers will receive this money.

“It is possible that from August 10 it could be that all interested parties are expected to submit applications to the National Cultural Center that they are entitled to a refund of the overpaid commission,” said LNKC representative Sarmīte Pāvulēna.

The representative of the Center admitted that during the emergency situation the work on the procedure for disbursement of money had stopped.

“We are a little left of this issue, considering that people, if they want to submit, say, documents in person, will most likely not be able to come to the National Cultural Center and do it,” said a representative of LNKC.

You will be able to choose one of three ways to apply for money. The first provides for the submission of the application and proof of payment electronically – with a valid electronic signature. The second is to send documents by post, but the third is to come to LNKC. The application for a refund is scheduled for December 10. Money that no one has applied for after this date will be donated to the next Song and Dance Festival.
