Chairperson of the Central Executive Board (DPP) PDIP Djarot Saiful Hidayat get the mandate to serve as Chairman of the North Sumatra PDIP PDD definitive. He was also said to have the authority to determine nominations in all regions in North Sumatra in the 2020 elections, including President Joko Widodo’s son-in-law, Bobby Nasution.
It is known, the previous Chairman of DPD PDIP, Japorman Saragih, was caught in a bribery corruption case against former North Sumatra Governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho.
“With this appointment, I have a special task in leading the North Sumatra PDIP DPD in the future. Including winning simultaneous elections in 2020 in North Sumatra,” said Djarot, in his statement, Tuesday (4/8).
He said North Sumatra was one of the regions with the most simultaneous elections in 2020. Out of 33 regions, there were 23 districts / cities that carried out the elections.
“Therefore, I have the task of consolidating the ranks of the party to the grassroots,” he said.
Not only that, Djarot has full authority in recruiting candidates for regional heads and deputy regional heads in North Sumatra. In addition, the responsibility is to consolidate the organization and cadres in dealing with the future elections.
“This is an additional task and responsibility for me. Moreover, North Sumatra has quite a large area. But the culture of mutual cooperation rooted in PDIP makes me believe the party can win quite significantly in this election,” he explained.

Separately, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto Djarot’s status as Chairperson of the North Sumatra PDIP DPD gave him full authority in recruiting regional head candidates.
“In North Sumatra, we have set Mr. Djarot Syaiful Hidayat as Chairman of the PDI-P DPD in North Sumatra. He has the authority to register later on candidates who participate in the Simultaneous Regional Election,” Hasto said in a written statement, Tuesday (4/8 ).
As is known, North Sumatra became one of the public spotlight in the 2020 simultaneous local elections. Because President Joko Widodo’s son-in-law Bobby Nasution declared himself as a candidate for mayor of Medan. He also has won support from at least the Gerindra Party.
Meanwhile, PDIP has not yet announced the candidate pair it is carrying. Although, Djarot, some time ago called “the frequency is clear”, related to the nomination of Bobby.
Hasto himself did not specifically discuss the Medan elections or Bobby’s nomination. But he promised the party bearing the bull logo will soon announce its candidates in areas that do not yet have a hero to be carried by PDIP.
“For the next one, we will announce 75 pairs of candidates at the same time,” Hasto said. “In the near future we will announce”.
Previously, Japorman Saragih resigned from the position of Chairman of the North Sumatra PDIP DPD since January after becoming one of the 14 new suspects announced by the KPK in a bribery case from former North Sumatra Governor, Gatot Pujo Nugroho. He has also been arrested.
The PDI-P DPP then appointed Djarot as the Acting Chairperson of the North Sumatra PDIP DPD. Now, Djarot is appointed as the Chairman of the North Sumatra PDIP PDD definitive.
