– Outside the comfort zone – VG

BLOG VETERAN: Caroline Berg Eriksen.

TV 2 sharpens its claws against NRK and “Maskorama” – and dishes up its own celebrities who will sing live.

Published:

“Norway’s new mega hit” is the title of TV 2’s new Saturday venture. Throughout the autumn, six celebrity participants will compete to make the country’s new hit song.

Each week, the participants, who are known for everything but their singing and songwriting skills, must perform the songs themselves. And every Saturday, with the fewest votes, it has to go home.

The participants are:

  • Caroline Berg Eriksen (34), influencer
  • Helene Olafsen (31), athlete and program manager
  • Odd-Magnus Williamson (41), comedian and actor
  • Abubakar Hussain (34), komiker
  • Einar Nilsson (57), TV celebrity / “handyman”
  • Maria Stavang (26), and comedian and influencer
SPENT: Caroline Berg Eriksen.

– I think it’s a lot of fun to challenge myself and push myself a little outside the comfort zone, says Caroline Berg Eriksen in an announcement via the channel.

The blog star has always loved to sing, but has never done anything like this.

– So I look forward a lot, at the same time as I am very excited. I think the concept is cool, and I look forward to being a part of it, says Eriksen.

Over the years, she has performed in amateur theater and musical productions at home in Sarpsborg, including “Grease” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

In fact, Eriksen has tried his hand at a pop star stunt before, almost 12 years ago. Here’s a taste:

Odd-Magnus Williamson jokes that he only has one thought behind participating in the new music concept.

– For me, this is just about greed and the opportunity to earn hundreds of millions on a potential hit, he says.

COMEDIAN: Odd-Magnus Williamson.

Helene Olafsen makes no secret of the fact that she is in deep water. Although she is happy, she thinks she has nothing to do there

– I get sweating every time I remember that I have said yes. There is something about the talent not being connected by the will, says the former “Senkveld” host.

EX-SNOWBOARDER: Helene Olafsen.

Abu Hussain has always dreamed of becoming an artist, and he does not rule out that it may now come true. He is still realistic.

– I dread going out in front of everyone, he says.

DREAMS: Abubakar «Abu» Hussain.

Einar Nilsson has won on TV before. He went to the top in «Shall we dance» in 2018. Whether he performs as strongly now remains to be seen.

– Music is one of the best things in life. What could be better than being able to create and perform it live? Think that I must be allowed to participate in this, says the “Time for home” profile.

MUSIC LOVER: Einar Nilsson.

Maria Stavang is happy to be able to sharpen, and thinks she is the right lady in the right place.

– I’m not an artist, so that’s why I think I fit very well in this competition, she says.

INFLUENCES: Maria Stavang is a celebrity on social media.

More celebrities will appear, because every time a participant has to leave the show, a new one comes in as a challenger. In the end, it is the viewers who decide the winner.

The hopefuls, however, are not left entirely to themselves. Established musicians, experts and producers line up as helpers.

The mentors are Lise Karlsnes (41), Daniel Kvammen (33), Ole Evenrud (58), Christine Dancke (37), Regina «Myra» Tucker (26) and Stian «Staysman» Thorbjørnsen (39).

The producers are Anders Nilsen (33), Jesper Borgen (33), Gucci Caliente (26), Erik Smaaland (35) and Mathias Nilsen (21).

Erik Solbakken (36), currently currently with «LEGO Masters», will be the host.

“Norway’s new megahit” will premiere on November 20 – two weeks after “Maskorama” has started season two on the state channel. TV 2 must first come ashore with “Skal vi danse”.

TV 2 knows they have strong competition in NRK’s massive seermagnet «Maskorama».

– “Maskorama” is a fantastic TV concept, which will certainly be a great success this autumn as well, says program editor at TV 2, Kathrine Haldorsen.

– What pleases me most is that viewers choose Norwegian channels with Norwegian content, as we now see it on Saturdays, where both “Star Wars” and “Shall we dance” have very good viewership. Collectively, “Maskorama” and “Norway’s new mega-hit” will surely reach a very large audience, thinks Haldorsen, who thinks it is especially cool to be able to present a new and self-developed initiative.
