VIVA – WE Declaration (Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia) which was carried out at the Jakarta Proclamation Monument, Tuesday, August 18 2020, received a counter action. These demonstrators also called themselves US and staged a demonstration against the declaration at the Proclamation Monument.
WE who are demonstrating are the Indonesian Millennial Action Unit. They staged a protest right in front of the Proclamation Monument, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
One of the orators said that the declaration made by US which was initiated by Din Syamsuddin, Gatot Nurmantyo and other figures, according to them, was too forced. They are worried that this declaration will actually create a new cluster of COVID-19.
The crowd that came to attend this declaration action also caused a crowded crowd at the main gate of this Proclamation Monument.
“OUR declaration will trigger the spread of COVID-19 to become wider. We are sure, after this declaration from US is carried out, a new cluster of COVID-19 will emerge from this place,” in his oration, Tuesday, August 18 2020.

The action, which was also closely guarded by police officers from the Central Jakarta Metro Police, involved around 100 people. This crowd carried banners and posters containing demands for action.
Like a poster that reads “Help the government overcome the crisis, don’t disturb it”. There is also a banner that reads “We reject OUR political movement in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
Before disbanding in an orderly manner, these demonstrators were met by a representative from the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE). (ren)
