Osokin and Sisters Balana will delight the audience with a film music program

A very interesting concert program has appeared on the poster of cultural events. Its title: “Life as cinema – cinema as life”. Top artists will play the music of legendary films.

Pianist Andrejs Osokins was the first to come to the attempt and immediately threw his fingers at the piano. Sister Balana is also present after a short while.

The Covid-19 test has been performed, you can prepare for Saturday’s concert in the creative Sporta Street 2 quarter “OratoriO”. Osokins, violinist Kristīne Balanas and cellist Margarita Balanas have performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls.

“We actually met in Latvia, but our creative collaboration began in London, at the Royal Academy of Music, where we started performing together. With very serious programs, Beethoven and everything. We continued this program in Latvia as well as this cooperation. We start in 2011 or even earlier. In 2008. 12 years. From the beginning, the duo became a trio, ”says violinist Kristīne Balanas.

The trio has created the program “Life as a Cinema – Cinema as a Life”, which will feature compositions from, for example, Franco Dzefirelli, Stephen Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, as well as local cinema classics.

“It seemed very special to me how we go through life and see from birth to death in the cinema program. It depicts life. Also, of course, the special written arrangements, which, in my opinion, intertwine the film, the listeners may not have known that these themes coincide together and that maybe it is also interesting to watch these films side by side, ”says Kristīne Balanas.

“Kubrik used Ligeti a lot, Tarkovsky uses Bach’s music, but there will also be music specially written for films. Composers like John William with his “Jaws” or “Star Wars”. He went down in history as a composer of film music, ”says pianist Andrejs Osokins.

The musicians have given solo concerts with leading orchestras conducted by the most outstanding contemporary conductors, played at the Berlin Philharmonic and Wigmore Hall in London, but admit that performing in Latvia is different.

“It simply came to our notice then. You always see someone familiar in the audience. It’s more personal. You feel love from the listeners. Listeners give you energy, and you give them even more. It is very special to play at home, ”says cellist Margarita Balanas.

18: 35-18: 42 I can’t expect spectators to face while we play. It will be a charming event.
