Ori developer thinks it would be “extremely difficult” to run a 60fps sequel on Switch

One of the unexpected announcements of 2019 was that Xbox Game Studios will release Ori and The Blind Forest on Switch in eShop. The game debuted on the hybrid system a month after it was announced, and since then we have been wondering if we will ever have a chance to play the sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

In a recent AMA reddit session, Ori and the Will of the Wisps developers were asked if Moon Studios had plans to port Ori’s second adventure on Switch. Leading engineer Gennady Korol replied that no matter how much the team loved the system, they now have nothing to tell:

We love Switch! But now we have nothing to tell about Ori and the port of the second part. If this happens, it will be an extremely difficult port to operate at 60 frames per second, but we will strive for this.

So, according to Moon Studios, they have nothing to say about the potential port. So it looks like fans of the Switch series will just have to keep waiting and hoping for a port in the foreseeable future.
