Only one in five children is examined at the orphanages. Professionals think it should be routine.

Only one in five children who are questioned at the orphanages receive a forensic examination. There are far too few, according to professionals associated with the three orphanages in Western Norway.

When children are exposed to violence or abuse, their bodies are the scene of a criminal act. Therefore, most children should be examined by a doctor and dentist when they come to the State Orphanage. Also in cases where the suspicion of abuse or violence is not confirmed in an interrogation.

This is the opinion of an interdisciplinary group of professionals in the Competence Network West who work closely with the vulnerable children
