OnePlus and OPPO lose case and stop phone sales in Germany | Tech

Chinese phone maker OPPO and its subsidiary OnePlus have stopped selling phones through their websites in Germany. The companies shut down after losing a lawsuit filed by Nokia over the use of patents, reports The Verge.-

OPPO and OnePlus have been sued for using Nokia’s proprietary technology. It was about the way phones from the Chinese companies process 4G and 5G signals. Nokia won that case last Friday and the German websites of OPPO and OnePlus have now been adjusted.

Hardware from the Chinese companies is no longer sold on the German sites. This is still possible via the Dutch websites.

A OnePlus spokesperson says to The Verge that the sales freeze is Nokia’s fault, because the company is charging “unreasonably high fees” for the use of its patents. “We are actively working with relevant parties to resolve the issue,” he says.

The phones that have already been sold in Germany will continue to work. In addition, notice The Verge that new devices may still be sold through third parties.
