One year after the announcement of Phase 4, this is the state of the films

July 21, 2019 was a special day for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That day the colossal empire of superhero films announced the films of its Phase 4, which would continue the story of the saga after the conclusion that was Avengers: Endgame between 2020 and 2023. Then the coronavirus came along and changed all his plans.

A year after the announcement, we reviewed the current state of the films, delayed or even paralyzed by the restrictions caused by the covid-19 pandemic.

Perhaps among the most affected was the movie starring Scarlett Johansson, Black Widow, whose production had already completely culminated when the world crisis began. Initially slated to come out in May 2020, the film also featuring Florence Pugh’s performance was postponed to the November 6th.

Another affected film was The Eternals, whose filming ended in February of this year, saving itself from the restrictions that affected Hollywood for months. While initially slated to premiere in November 2020 – on the same date it has now taken Black Widow– The film starring Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Richard Madden now has as its opening day the February 12, 2021.

Among the movies announced by Marvel, one of the most interesting is Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings, a film starring Simu Liu that promises action and martial arts in the extreme. Initially scheduled to leave in February 2021, filming in Australia was halted by the pandemic, although work is expected to resume in late July. The new release date is May 7, 2021.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Far from home, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, was set for November 5, 2021. Captain Marvel 2, for its part, will premiere on July 8, 2022. Shortly before, on February 11, 2022, the premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder.
