In the vicinity of the house of the president of the Community Action Board of the La Unión neighborhood, two people fell wounded as a result of several impacts with a firearm. One of them perished while the other remains hospitalized at Federico Lleras Acosta.

Around 9 pm on Monday several shots were heard near the ‘Filo del Hambre’ in La Unión; the bullets went straight towards the humanity of Luis Miguel Canizales Roa and Juan Aragón Galindo, who according to witnesses were intercepted by two subjects who shot them.
The gunmen escaped as ‘Pedro por su casa’ and left the victims adrift, who in the first instance were helped by the community.
Several patrols of the National Police arrived at the scene and in an official vehicle they transferred the boys to the Ibagué Health Unit, Ricaurte headquarters. In the emergency room of the care center, Canizales Roa perished.
According to the authorities, Luis Miguel was hit in the chest. The one who had another chance at life was Aragón Galindo.
The criminalistics agents of the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI, carried out the urgent acts. However, the Judicial Investigation Section is carrying out investigations and collecting evidence to clarify the fact of blood.

The murder triggered operations by the Metib Police, and in reaction to a ‘lockdown plan’ they arrested an individual with a firearm.
It was rumored in the area that a subject known by the alias of ‘Veneno’ would be responsible for the murder of Canizales Roa.
Background
It is worth mentioning that at the end of March there was a confrontation between police officers and a group of thugs in the La Unión neighborhood, where a Metib sub-lieutenant was injured with a firearm.
The shooting occurred after a police patrol responded to the call of the community that alerted the suspicious presence of some individuals who, upon seeing the presence of the authorities, activated firearms.
Two people identified as Janier Camilo González Rubio, alias ‘Camilo’ and Julián Andrés Rodríguez Arango, were arrested for the events.
