Since the video preview of the gameplay published last October, EA hadn’t given much news from the Command and Conquer Remastered Collection. Yesterday, the publisher finally revealed the release date and all the details of the compilation. It will be available on June 5 and pre-orders for its three editions are already open.
Command and Conquer is a cult game that marked his generation. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, EA has therefore spared no resources and offers a remaster up to the popularity of the title. The compilation Command and Conquer Remastered Collection includes the first two opus of the license Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert, and their three extensions.
A complete remastering of Command & Conquer
Both titles have been given a real makeover, which includes among other things improved graphics and interface, support for 4K, 7h soundtrack completely remastered and a new multiplayer system with more than 250 maps.
All the famous FMV cutscenes of the game have also received a graphic treatment to be modernized. This work was a real challenge for the developers. Without being able to get their hands on the original sequences, the latter had to call on the community of players to recover images. They then used an artificial intelligence algorithm to thoroughly improve the graphics. Note however that Command & Conquer Remastered Collection will allow the player to switch back to the original graphics style in real time.
Command and Conquer Remastered Collection: 3 special editions
Three editions of the collection will be available. The dematerialized basic version will be sold at the price of $ 19.99 on Steam and Origin. Two physical editions will be offered by Limited Run Games. The Special Edition at $ 59.99 will include the game download code, a USB key with the 7 hours of remastered music, a poster, badges, etc. For the ultimate fans of Command and Conquer, an edition 25th Anniversary at 149.99 dollars will also include a hundred page art book, a replica of the Mammoth tank, a CD version of the soundtrack, and many other goodies.
These last two editions are available en pre-order until April 10 only. To make us wait, EA yesterday unveiled a new trailer that summarizes all the details of the collection.
