“One-and-a-half-year-old girl critically injured in private part; no action taken by police”

Kozhikode: A one-and-a-half-year-old girl was fatally injured in her private part and is in critical condition. The baby is being treated at the Kozhikode Medical College Maternal Child Care Center. On the 22nd of this month, the baby’s mother, a native of Panniangara, brought her to the hospital at night. The mother says that the baby’s father is in Mysore.

Internal organs were damaged as a result of injury to the baby’s private parts. An emergency surgery was then performed. Intestinal and rectal injuries. The baby is currently being treated in the pediatric ICU.

Officials say that the baby was brought to the hospital two days after the incident. The family told the hospital authorities that they did not know what had happened and had no complaint. Then the police was informed from the hospital itself. The hospital authorities complain that despite reporting the incident twice, no action has been taken by the police.

The samples collected from the child’s private parts were supposed to be sent to the lab for chemical testing within 72 hours, but the police did not do so. The police informed that the information has been forwarded to the Child Welfare Committee. The hospital authorities stated that they have also brought the matter to the committee but have not received any reply yet.

But the statement of the police is that they have taken statements from the people related to the child and have not found anything worthy of filing a case. Medical college authorities have been informed. The police said that no clear information about what happened was given from there.
