According to the data of July 21, 1045 patients had recovered from Covid-19, but according to the data published today

the number of recovered people has reached 1052.

According to the National Health Service, no new patients with Covid-19 have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours. Two Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in hospital. Both patients have a moderate course of the disease.

To date, 190 patients have been discharged from the hospital, including both those who have recovered and those who have died.

Since the Covid-19 outbreak in Latvia, a total of 1,220 people have contracted the disease caused by the new coronavirus, of whom 1,052 have recovered and 31 have died, according to SPKC data.

It has already been reported that 13 new cases were registered in Latvia on Saturday, but none on Sunday.

The illnesses registered on Saturday are partly related to five migrant workers from Uzbekistan who arrived in Latvia over the weekend. The disease was detected in these people during tests on entry.

After eight people contracted Covid-19, Gulbene has become the region with the highest number of Covid-19 patients, not including Riga, where the number of infected exceeds 80. Bulbene County Council Chairman Normunds Audzišs has announced that will be similar to the restrictions in force at the time of the state of emergency.

Audzišs admitted that there has been a recent decline in caution in society, so there will be strict conditions for observing a distance of two meters, a reminder of mandatory personal hygiene and visiting less frequent public places if there is no special need.

Jurijs Perevoščikovs, Director of the Infectious Diseases Risk Analysis and Prevention Department of the SPKC, points out that in recent weeks, in almost all cases registered in Latvia, people have been infected abroad.

In addition, the disease is mainly associated with countries that our SPCC has included in the so-called yellow or red list, which epidemiologists do not recommend visiting at all or with special caution there and 14 days of self-isolation after return.

Perevoshchikov explains that, despite the sudden increase in the number of cases, there is no need to strengthen restrictive measures for the time being, because epidemiologists can trace the spread of the virus. “It all depends on how far we can limit the situation with such ordinary measures. People’s behavior and understanding are of the utmost importance,” Perevoshchikov said.
