Oman’s Ministry of Health Initiates Seasonal Influenza Vaccine Campaign Targeting Elderly and High-Risk Individuals

Oman’s Ministry of Health has started offering the seasonal influenza vaccine to people over 60 years of age and those suffering from chronic diseases. The ministry has started the vaccine campaign with the slogan ‘Let’s get vaccinated’.

Vaccination should be given to people over 60 years of age, people with chronic diseases such as lung, heart, kidney, liver, neurological and blood, people with uncontrolled diabetes and obesity in adults and children, pregnant women, Umrah pilgrims, health sector workers and two-year-old children.

To avoid influenza infection, which affects the respiratory system and can lead to serious complications, the authorities have urged people to visit the nearest health facility and receive the vaccine. The ministry informed that the vaccine is also available in the private health sector for citizens and residents who do not belong to the above categories. The influenza virus is a seasonal infectious disease that causes body aches, chills, and fatigue.
