Oil leakage from automatic transmission: Audi withdraws A8, Q7 and Q8 in Russia after VW Touareg

The review included Audi A8 sedans and Audi Q7 and Q8 crossovers sold in our country in 2019 and 2020. They need to eliminate the risk of failure of the automatic transmission due to poor-quality oil pipe.

The current generation of the Audi Q7 and VW Touareg was not very successful in terms of reliability: this year, crossovers have already been withdrawn in Russia due to cracks in the seats and the risk of steering failure. Now, a defect has been identified in the 8-speed automatic transmission ZF, which is equipped with the above-mentioned models in no alternative order.

During an internal check, it turned out that the transmission oil tube may have a poor-quality weld, and oil may leak out through this seam, which is fraught with a box failure and an emergency. The mechanics of authorized service centers will have to set the dates for the production of oil pipes on all vehicles subject to recall, and if it turns out that the pipes are from a defective batch, they will be replaced with new ones of proper quality.

In total, there were reviews in Russia 157 Audi A8, Q7 and Q8 cars, a list of their VIN numbers can be downloaded here.

Volkswagen announced a similar recall of Touareg crossovers in our country back in May, at risk are 1099 copies of 2019, the list of their VIN-numbers can be downloaded here.
