Officially: Michael Carrick leaves Manchester United | ManUtd.pl

Michael Carrick led the Manchester United team for the last time in a 3-2 win against Arsenal. Ralf Rangnick will be appointed the new interim manager. Carrick has decided to leave Old Trafford permanently to open a new chapter in his career.

Sports Director John Murtough said: “All Manchester United employees sincerely thank and wish all the best to Michael Carrick, who is leaving the club after 15 years of service as a player and coach. Everyone in the club is sad that Michael has decided to leave, but we understand and respect his decision.

He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest midfielders in Manchester United history and as the coach who worked under two different managers’ terms and helped them develop the team that will now be taken over by Ralf Rangnick.

– We are grateful for standing up to the task in this difficult period of managerial changes. Although he is leaving the club and will not be in the day-to-day duties for him, he will still remain a club legend.

Michael Carrick said: “Time at this club will always count as one of the best years of my career.” When I signed for Manchester United for the first time fifteen years ago, I never dreamed that I would win in so many competitions. I will definitely never forget my adventures in this club, both as a player and as a member of the training staff.

– However, after considering the whole situation and considering it, I decided it was time to leave the club. I would like to thank all the players, and especially the training staff, because working with such a great group of people was a pleasure and allowed me to make many long-lasting friendships.

– I am and will be a supporter of Manchester United. I intend to continue attending my club’s games. I wish Ralf, the staff, players and fans all the best. I look forward to supporting the guys in the Old Trafford stands.

Michael Carrick played 464 matches for Manchester United between 2006 and 2018, and during his career he won the Premier League, FA Cup five times, League Cup twice, Champions League, Europa League and the Club World Cup.

Carrick joined the first team’s coaching staff immediately after retiring in 2018. Initially, he was a member of the staff of Jose Mourinho, and later Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
