Formula 1 | Mercedes wants Vettel, Bottas at Renault F1 or Red Bull?

Almost two weeks after the announcement of his departure from Ferrari in late 2020, the future of Sebastian Vettel is not known. But it seems more and more established that for the German, it will be Mercedes or nothing.

According to F1-Insider, which quotes an Italian journalist, Ola Källenius, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, wishes to align Vettel alongside Lewis Hamilton. The latter, as well as the director of Mercedes-AMG F1, Toto Wolff, would be opposed to this possibility.

But the parent company, which is funding the project, will have the final say, especially as Wolff and Hamilton are nearing the end of their contract. The good shuttles available in 2021 are shrinking rapidly and the Briton should have no other option. Fully aware of this, Mercedes’s board of directors will be able to impose its choices.

The future of the team being uncertain, the desire to align a new and renowned duo as important as the two multiple world champions will be favored by those who decide to extend the program.

As a sign that times are changing at Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas would have started looking elsewhere for 2021. His manager Didier Coton would have already contacted Renault, as we reported to you, while F1-Insider ensures that he would also have inquired from the side from Red Bull.

One thing is certain, the two Mercedes bucket seats will be expensive, whether in number of candidates or in concessions to be made from those who already occupy them to successfully stay there.
