Official! Man United Release Daniel James to Leeds

Manchester United let go Daniel James after getting Cristiano Ronaldo. The Welshman joins Leeds United.

“We can confirm that Daniel James has completed a permanent transfer from Manchester United to Leeds United,” Man United said in a statement on the club’s official website.

James actually started two of United’s first three games in the Premier League this season. His future at Old Trafford eventually changed and was sold to Leeds on a contract until 2026

There is an assumption that James’ departure cannot be separated from the sudden arrival of Ronaldo from Juventus. The existence of the Portuguese player will make it difficult for James to compete in the MU attack line.

Manchester United did not mention how much the transfer value of James to Leeds. From several European media reports, Leeds is believed to have redeemed James for 28 million euros.

The director of Leeds United, Victor Orta, is a man who James greatly idolizes. The dream to see James in Leeds costume has finally come true.

“I have to say a big thank you to my team first – the football department has been monitoring Daniel for several years and every member of my team has worked hard to finalize this deal,” Orta was quoted as saying by Leeds’ official website.

“It’s no secret that Daniel is a player we have wanted to sign for several years and today we achieved our goal. We felt Daniel was a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s squad, he was fast and hardworking. Finally he joined.”

The Red Devils brought James from Swansea City in the summer of 2019/2020. He has made 74 appearances so far with nine goals in all competitions.
