BThe history of the paint factory Schramm Coating GmbH in Offenbach began in 1810 with the idea of the trained silversmith Christoph Schramm to cover wooden pipe bowls and papier-mâché doll heads with varnish to protect them. In the more than 200 years of company history that followed, countless other paints were added, for example for cars, trams and initially also for carriages. The Schramm story will end in Offenbach in 2024. The Dutch company Akzo Nobel, to which the paint factory has belonged since 2011, is closing Schramm Offenbach, which affects more than 140 employees. So far, a total of 1,200 men and women work at Akzo Nobel Germany at four production and four office locations, including Offenbach.
