The local authorities of the prefecture of Ain Sebaa-Hay Mohammadi have cordoned off the perimeter of the Assalam market in Hay Mohammadi, after a significant rise in coronavirus cases in the neighborhood. The number of active cases at the prefecture level has increased by around 15 times in a few weeks, from 21 cases on June 6 to nearly 300 cases on Wednesday August 12.
The team of The Info Site was able to observe on site the installation of iron barriers around the market. For their part, traders in the souk did not hide their anger, expressing their opposition to the authorities’ decision.
At the microphone of The Info Site, they did not fail to point out the inexistence of proven cases of Covid-19 in the market. The proof is that the stores are always open, they say.
Likewise, they called on the authorities of the city of Casablanca to take “alternative” decisions, instead of endangering the market and its businesses.
