  • An 84-year-old woman has had a lingo, two gold coins and several thousand euros stolen. He suspects a plumber who had intervened in his home.
  • The police arrested the technician and one of his accomplices. The suspect admitted the facts in police custody.
  • They will be judged on February 10.

The case dates back to January 18. An 84-year-old woman, living in Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), calls the police and explains to them that she was the victim of a theft. She says she had a technician come to her home to fix a water leak. The latter begins by asking him for 1,350 euros in cash to bring in one of his colleagues who will take care of the work… Then, he asks this elderly person to go to the cellar to carry out a certain number of checks. When the victim returns home, the technician has vanished.

She notices that several valuables have disappeared: a gold bar worth 48,900 euros, two Mexican gold coins worth 1,900 euros each, and several thousand euros in cash. The police then contacted the management of the company which intervened and obtained a telephone number. It is in the name of a woman, whose son is well known to their services. He is a plumber known for thefts from vulnerable people.

Judged in February

The same evening, the octogenarian receives a phone call from the technician. He asks her to withdraw his complaint and promises to return the money and the stolen objects to him. The next day, a man arrived at the victim’s home. He has in his possession the ingot, coins and part of the stolen banknotes. He ignores it, but the police are there. He explains to the agents that he is the thief’s cousin. The latter is in a car parked not far from there. The two men are arrested and taken into custody at the Rosny police station.

According to our information, the author admitted the facts to the police. The duo were brought for immediate appearance on January 20, but the case was postponed until February 10, 2021. The one who is being prosecuted for “theft facilitated by the state of a vulnerable person” has been placed in pre-trial detention. His accomplice is being prosecuted for concealing the theft and has been placed under judicial control.
