– OCI, an energy and chemical company, has signed a long-term polysilicon supply contract worth 930 billion won with Chinese solar manufacturer LONGi Solar.

According to OCI on the 8th, OCI’s Malaysian subsidiary,’OCIMSB’, which produces polysilicon for solar power, will supply polysilicon worth $850.55 million to Longi Solar by 2024.

The contract size is 35% of OCI’s consolidated sales in 2019.

In conjunction with the climate change problem, interest in the solar power business is growing. Each country’s declaration of carbon neutrality continues, and the new president of the United States, Joe Biden, is also in an active position to foster the new and renewable energy industry, unlike former President Trump.

Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), a research institute specializing in new and renewable energy, analyzed that 130GW of new solar power would have been installed around the world in 2020. It is expected to grow more than about 15%.

Longi Solar is the world’s number one solar wafer company and manufactures highly efficient mono wafers and modules.
