I tested for you … the New York City Pass

new york city pass guide
Mon carnet New York City Pass.

Even after I don’t know how many trips to New York, I never go to New York without a pass, these sightseeing packages that allow you to make significant savings on the normal price of tickets. You should know that there are 4 different passes in New York, as you can read in the section dedicated to New York passes, but the New York City Pass is the most popular. This pass is aimed more particularly at those going to New York for the first time because it gives access to 6 must-see places in New York:

  • Cruise and access to the Island of the Statue of Liberty (or another cruise to choose from).
  • The Empire State Building Observatory.
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York equivalent of the Louvre.
  • The American Museum of Natural History, the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
  • Choice of Top of the Rock Observatory or admission to the Guggenheim Museum
  • Choice of admission to the September 11, 2001 Museum or admission to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

And the economy is far from negligible! The pass costs 106 euros while it would take around 140 euros for the 6 entries at the normal price. The New York City Pass therefore saves a little over 30 euros for each person!
For this new trip to New York, I put myself back in the shoes of someone who is going to New York for the first time and who opts for the City Pass.

Purchase in a few clicks

To purchase the pass, go to our New York City Pass booking page. The purchase is made in French and in a few clicks, obviously completely secure.
Once the payment has been made, go to my e-mail box to receive the confirmation and print it. It is possible not to print the voucher and simply present it on your smartphone, but I prefer printing. You never know: if the phone is flat, it is better to have the paper!

The day after my arrival in New York, I decide to take advantage of the jet lag and wake up at 5 a.m. to take the first ferry to the Statue of Liberty. The weather is wonderful and it is always a pleasure to go visit Miss Liberty! I’m the first one outside the Castle Clinton gate in Battery Park, the Statue of Liberty ticket office.
The window finally opens and I simply present the printed confirmation. The cashier gets up and goes to get a pass that she gives me, not without having withdrawn the coupon for the Statue of Liberty. Let’s go ! Note that you can collect your pass at any of the attractions included in the pass. For those who want to start with the Empire State building or the Top of the Rock, it is enough to present the confirmation.

Long live the skip-the-line access!

The New York City Pass not only saves money, it also provides skip-the-line access to boarding the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Museum and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. This saves a lot of time, especially if you don’t take the first ferry to the Statue of Liberty: from 9am, the queue gets longer! I also really enjoyed the skip-the-line at the very busy September 11, 2001 museum.
One regret: the New York City Pass does not give skip-the-line access to the Empire State building. But the wait has fortunately been rethought with a circuit that winds through the middle of an exhibition that tells the story of the Empire State building. What to expect intelligently!
In the end, I was delighted to see again the places that I knew and to discover the museum of September 11, which I did not know (see my visit of the museum of September 11, 2001). The New York City Pass is definitely a must-have pass!
