NYPD seeks public’s help in identifying suspect in Queens rape case

NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual in connection with a rape that occurred in Queens.

The incident took place in the Maspeth sector in Queens on Sunday, April 30 at 5 in the morning.

“We always ask for more security,” said Omar Fernández, a Queens resident. “Even if there are cameras, criminals don’t care.”

According to authorities, the 49-year-old victim was walking home when an unknown man riding a motorcycle approached him and they began a conversation.

According to the NYPD, the victim then got on the back of the motorcycle and the individual drove her to the vicinity of 48th Avenue y 72nd Streetwhere he hit him in the face that caused him to hit his head on the ground and lose consciousness.

The suspect then proceeded to rape the victim. When he began to regain consciousness, the individual fled the scene.

The victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospital/Elmhurstwhere he entered in serious condition, but is stable.

The individual being sought is described as a male approximately 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, and of average build.
