NYPD and Hyundai Host Free Event to Update Hyundai Vehicle Software and Prevent Thefts

The New York police will hold a free event this weekend so Hyundai car owners can update their vehicle’s software and solve a security problem that makes them vulnerable to being stolen.

Under the KiaChallenge trend, a wave of theft of these cars began throughout the country.

Now, the NYPD and Hyundai are holding an event this Saturday and Sunday for people to come and update their car’s software for free.

“In response to persistent thefts targeting certain Hyundai vehicles that do not have push-button ignition or anti-theft devices, Hyundai and the NYPD will host a mobile clinic,” the automaker said in a statement.

The event will take place this coming Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29 from 7:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night at a dealership located in Queens.

Owners of models from 2011 to 2022 will be able to come to receive maintenance for free.

Mobile clinic to update Hyundai vehicle software:

Days: October 28 and 29.
Hours: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
Location: GNYADA’s Center for Automotive Education & Training at 15-30 of Petracca Place in Whitestone, NY.
