(New York Jewish Week via JTA) – The New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Unit is investigating three separate attacks on two Jewish children and a teenage girl in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspects, whom they have brought back to the same group of three women caught on surveillance cameras.
The first attack took place on Friday, November 26, around 6 p.m., when a 3-year-old boy was slapped in the face.

The other two attacks occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, the first night of Hanukkah. An 18-year-old girl was pinned to the ground and a 9-year-old boy was slapped on the head.
All the victims were in traditional Jewish clothing at the time of the attacks.

According to the NYPD Hate Crimes Dashboard, last updated at the end of September, the NYPD recorded 416 hate crimes in New York City this year. Of these reported hate crimes, 144 – more than a third – were committed against Jews. These figures are 55% higher than in the same period in 2020, when 93 of the 206 incidents reported were committed against Jews.
