Nur Sajat, Transgender Who Appeared at the Grand Mosque, Arrested in Bangkok

KUALA LUMPUR – Nur Sajat, a transgender man who is being hunted by troops Malaysia In connection with the case of blasphemy against Islam for posing in the Grand Mosque, Mecca, Saudi Arabia, as a female pilgrim, the Thai Immigration Authority has arrested the Thai Immigration Authority in Bangkok.

Newspaper daily Metro reported that Nur Sajat was detained on September 8 after Thai authorities received information about his whereabouts from Malaysian authorities.

Citing a source, the report said Nur Sajat had been detained along with a transgender Thai in a luxury condominium in Bangkok by immigration authorities.

“On June 4, Thai Immigration authorities discovered Nur Sajat’s hideout in Bangkok,” the source said, as reported by The Star, Monday (20/9/2021).

“After some intelligence gathering, the raid was carried out on September 8 at around 6pm.”

“Nur Sajat was arrested and the inspection showed that he was wanted by the Malaysian authorities,” the source continued.

The report noted that Nur Sajat was indicted in a Thai court for immigration-related offenses and released on bail of RM8,343 on September 10 which was paid by local residents.
