Number of corona infections increases by 1270 | Inland

That figure is a kind of alarm bell that the government has set. If the number of infections exceeds 7 per 100,000, additional measures may be needed.

On Wednesday, the government’s corona dashboard reported 1,140 new cases. That was the first time since April that the daily figure exceeded a thousand. Nearly 6,600 new cases have been registered in the past seven days.

The Haaglanden region had the most new cases. The virus was diagnosed 222 times in The Hague and the surrounding area. This included 123 cases in The Hague itself, 28 in Delft and 21 in Zoetermeer. The number of infections in Amsterdam-Amstelland increased by 209, including 186 in Amsterdam itself. 172 new cases came to light in Rotterdam-Rijnmond.

Many positive tests were also registered in other places. 29 new cases were registered in the province of Groningen, the highest number there since the end of March. The 54 new cases in Kennemerland represent the largest increase there since the beginning of April. The number of infections in South Gelderland increased by 48, the largest increase since mid-April.

Treatment in hospitals

The number of corona patients in a hospital is still increasing. Hospitals are treating 172 people on Friday because of the corona virus. That is eleven more than Thursday. It’s also the highest number since August 22, about three weeks ago.

Most corona patients are in hospitals in the regions of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Nevertheless, according to Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the National Network Acute Care, “there is still no need for redistribution between the regions.”

Of the 172 patients, 36 are in intensive care, six more than on Thursday. The number of patients on nursing wards increased from 131 to 136.

A week and a half ago, 122 corona patients were in a hospital. This means that the number of patients admitted has increased by 41 percent.

In addition to the 36 corona patients, intensive care also treat 609 people with other conditions. A total of 645 people are therefore in an intensive care unit. This number has fluctuated around 600 since the beginning of June. About 500 ic beds are currently not used.
