31 cases in Linz alone, 87 in the entire state. In Upper Austria, the number of people infected with corona continues to rise rapidly.
It is a worrying development. In the past few days, the number of people who have been positively tested for the corona virus has increased steadily. While there were 70 cases on Saturday, the number rose to 87 on Sunday morning (8 a.m.).
Corona hotspot is still the city of Linz, where there are currently 31 people who have tested positive. This is due to two striking cases. So nine members of the Pentecostal Church in Linz are currently ill. They were all at a religious service. On the other hand, at least three people became infected during an excursion by the “migrare” association.
More and more cases in schools
Also striking: Cases at schools are becoming known again and again. For example on the VS 41 at Pöstlingberg, the NMS 23 in Ebelsberg and at the Ramsauergymnasium (two sick children). And also at the NMS Sattledt (district Wels-Land) two young people tested positive for the virus. There is also a new case at VS Haag / Leonding.
“The accumulation of new infections can be attributed to the fact that people are more mobile again and maintain more contacts. An increase in the numbers was to be expected. We take developments seriously and monitor them closely. But you have to see the current infections in Linz in relation to the population of more than 200,000, ”explains Linz Mayor Klaus Luger.
Governor warns
Governor Thomas Stelzer also urges caution in view of the development. “When dealing with the corona virus, people’s personal responsibility and compliance with health protection regulations are the best protective shield to counteract uncontrolled spreading and to prevent a possible restart of restrictions”, Stelzer and his deputy Christine Haberlander appeal to the population.
