Samir Halabya, the Egyptian club president, called for canceling the league competition for the current season, with Al-Ahly being installed as a champion.
Halabya said on Al-Zamalek channel: “We have a week before the deadline to stop sports activity in Egypt expires, then we need another week to resume the league on 5 or 6 April, and then a case of HIV infection appears in any club that postpones the competition for 15 new days.”
He added, “My opinion is that Al-Ahly is declared the champion of the league and we start preparing for the new season correctly. There are many things that need to be modified and changed.”
He continued, “It was said that we are calling for the league to be canceled because the Egyptian is in tenth place even though we were in the same position last season and we ended our journey in fourth place, and the matter was repeated in the season before last that we finished in third place.”
“We do not want each of us to explain the words in our own way, but rather we say that there is a problem, shall we exploit it and put things back in place again?”
“80 or 90% of the club players from the regions … Do we know how people live there? Does anyone know when the Corona virus crisis ends? The health of one person is more important than sport,” he concluded.
