Novak Djokovic’s historic Grand Slam racket auctioned off – narrowly missing record – Eurosport

Experts had assumed that the racket would go under the hammer for around 100,000 dollars (approx. 92,000 euros).

With the victory in Paris, Djokovic joined a number of other tennis legends who were also able to achieve the career Grand Slam (victories in all four Grand Slam tournaments): Fred Perry (1935), Don Budge (1938), Rod Laver (1962), Roy Emerson (1964), Andre Agassi (1999), Roger Federer (2009) and Rafael Nadal (2010).

A racket belonging to Billie Jean King from 1973, which she used in the “Battle of the Sexes” against former number one Bobby Riggs, was auctioned six years ago for 125,000 US dollars (around 116,000 euros today). Djokovic’s Grand Slam racket is only in second place.

However, both rackets are far from the most expensive sales of all time: in 2021, Roger Federer auctioned off numerous rackets, clothing and smaller memorabilia for the benefit of his Roger Federer Foundation. In the end, more than three million pounds (approx. 2.8 million euros) were raised.
