Suara.com – Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) on Wednesday (10/2/2021) stated that it has stock chip semiconductor for the next four months. So that this company is not affected by the global chip supply that is experiencing scarcity, so that they can continue production activities.
“In the short term, we don’t see a decrease in production volume due to a shortage of chips, but we do see a risk,” said Kenta Kon, TMC Finance Director, in a brief explanation. US News.
Kenta Kon added that Toyota had heard of a worldwide shortage of semiconductor chips. However, this situation seemed to take care of itself.
Asked about incidents of other carmakers being so affected by the situation, Kenta Kon said Toyota was continuing to provide suppliers with short and long term volume production plans.

The auto industry has grappled with a shortage of semiconductor chips since late last year, which was in some cases exacerbated by US government sanctions on chip factories in China.
However, Toyota still has a target to sell 9.73 million vehicles this year, up 3.3 percent from the previous estimate of 9.42 million.
“The fact that Toyota is not much affected by the current chip shortage is encouraging,” said Hideyuki Suzuki, general manager of investment research at SBI Securities.
