Former Commander of the TNI, General (Ret.) Gatot Nurmantyo, did not attend the grant Mahaputera star and write to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). What is the reason for Gatot not attending the award?
The Mahaputera Star Awarding took place this morning at the Presidential Palace and Gatot was nowhere to be seen. The Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, briefly revealed the contents of Gatot’s letter to President Jokowi.
“Yes, maybe there are some contents that he disagrees with, maybe the condition of COVID, he should pay a lot of attention to the TNI. In his letter like that and also to the president … and that’s his right,” Heru told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta. Center, Wednesday (11/11/2020).
Heru said that the state has fulfilled its obligation to give awards to former ministers, former police chiefs, former TNI chiefs, and former chiefs of staff. By his absence, Gatot means that he does not receive the service mark.
“No (got). So if he doesn’t attend, maybe the sign of his services will be handed over to the state again,” said Heru.
Regarding more detailed reasons for Gatot’s absence, Heru said that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md. “The details will be delivered by the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security,” he continued.
