North Korea’s Kim Jong-un Threatens Military Confrontation and Accelerates War Preparation

“Our army must mercilessly thwart the enemies’ provocations. And if the opponents choose an anti-republican military confrontation, then we should, without the slightest hesitation, strike a crushing blow and completely destroy the enemy’s capitals and a pack of military gangsters, using the entire arsenal of super-powerful means,” said Kim Jong-un .

At the same time, the DPRK leader expressed confidence that 2024 will be “the heyday of strengthening preparations for war.”

Military activities of the DPRK

North Korea regularly declares its “indisputable status as a nuclear state” and regularly launches ballistic missiles towards the East and Yellow Seas.

Earlier, on December 18, it was reported that the DPRK allegedly launched a short-range ballistic missile in the direction of the East Sea. A few hours later, Pyongyang conducted a second missile test. Therefore, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida convened a meeting of the National Security Council.

Amid a series of missile tests, the United States and South Korea are working on a common nuclear defense strategy that would create an integrated system to deter North Korean nuclear weapons by the middle of next year. In particular, they want to complete the development of comprehensive guidelines by 2024 on how to jointly contain and respond to the DPRK nuclear threat.

On December 23, it was reported that South Korea had conducted independent exercises simulating a North Korean nuclear attack as part of efforts to sharpen its ability to respond to the North’s military threats.

By the way, back in August, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called on the country’s military leadership to better prepare for war.
