They detailed that this occurred the previous December 28th, when officers responded to a complaint at an apartment complex.
The complaint was from a woman who claimed to be receiving threats from her ex-boyfriend who was outside her home.
When the police arrived at the scene, the subject, Jordan Crawford In his 30s, he told them he was armed, while keeping his right hand close to his waist.
“What’s behind your back, friend?”, an officer can be heard asking Crawford, to which Crawford responds: It’s a weapon. You want to see?”.
“Do you have a gun?”, asks the police rhetorically and asks: “Do not do that”.
Crawford continues to walk away from the agent while ignoring his orders to stop and raise his hands, the video shows. Jordan, we don’t want to kill you, buddy! Stop right now, bro! Stop!”shouts an officer.
Okay, who’s going to kill someone tonight? It’s up to you!”Crawford yells at the officers and starts counting from five to one.
When his countdown ends, and he pretends to pull out the gun he said he had, the five officers open fire on Crawford. However, no weapon was subsequently found at the scene, according to investigators.
“Officers reacted to the threat and fired their service weapons at the suspect, killing him,” Phoenix Police said in a statement after the altercation.
Crawford was later pronounced dead at a hospital. None of the police officers were injured during the incident, which remains under investigation.
