North Korea Missile Supply to Russia: Impact on Ukraine Conflict

Commenting on weapons production in Russia, Budanov said that the Russian Federation wastes more weapons and ammunition than it can produce, while at the same time struggling with quality control.

“This is precisely what explains Russia’s search for weapons in other countries,” said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

According to Budanov, North Korea is the largest supplier of weapons to the Russian army.

“They actually handed over a significant amount of artillery ammunition. This allowed Russia to exhale a little,” he said, adding that without North Korea’s help the situation would have been catastrophic.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate also noted that Russia would like not to rely on external assistance. Budanov said that “this has always been considered below them, this is humiliation.”

As the intelligence officer noted, another problem facing Russia is manpower. Moscow is losing as many or even more troops than it can recruit.

North Korea handed over missiles to Russia

Let us recall that recently White House National Security Council coordinator John Kirby said that Russia bought ballistic missiles from North Korea. They have already been used to strike Ukraine.

At the beginning of January, information appeared that the occupiers had attacked Kharkov with North Korean missiles. Later, the prosecutor’s office confirmed this and provided details.

Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky in an interview with RBC-Ukraine said that North Korea was actively supplying ammunition to the Russian Federation throughout the fall. According to intelligence estimates, the Russian army could receive about a million shells from the DPRK.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced “red lines” when commenting on the supply of North Korean missiles to the Russian Federation.
