The appointment is at 211 Union Ave, Brooklyn at the 90th police station at 5:00 pm.

At the event there will be resources for the community, in addition to women telling their stories and a minute of silence to remember the victims of domestic violence.

How to help a victim of domestic violence

Have the open line of communication
First of all: don’t judge the person. Learn to have an open mind, ears and heart, those will be the tools that will help you understand it better.

Make time for them
Arm yourself with patience and look for the right moment (not when she or you are upset) and make sure you have time so she can be comfortable and open her heart little by little.

Take the first step
Maybe you can start the topic by saying, “I’m worried about you because…” or “I’ve noticed some changes that worry me…”. And above all: tell him that you will be discreet with what he reveals to you.

Offers these guarantees:
I believe you. This is not your fault. You don’t deserve this.
