Justice is currently investigating the causes of death, said the Lille prosecutor’s office on Thursday. “I confirm to you the discovery yesterday of the lifeless body of a 13-and-a-half-year-old teenager in a squatted apartment in Roubaix, rue de la Barbe d’Or,” confirmed Lille prosecutor Carole Etienne.
The victim was in this accommodation “with another minor and a young adult aged 20”, she said. “An investigation has been opened to find the cause of death. Investigations are underway, in particular forensic, ”added Carole Etienne, without further details.
“She explained to me that her friend had drunk a lot the day before”
On Wednesday morning, the police went to the spot, rue de la Barbe-d’Or, after being alerted by a phone call from a 17-year-old young woman. According to information from the local press, the latter had been living “for a few days” in this refuge with the victim and a third young woman.
The trail of an alcoholic coma does not seem excluded for the residents, some of whom saw the 17-year-old young woman leave the building “around 9 am”, “in tears”. “She explained to me that her friend had drunk a lot the day before, that she had left him lying on a mattress and that in the early morning, she had realized that he had died”, says one of them at the Voice of the North.
