Normalization with Israel, Sinful Arab Countries

TEHERAN – Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , Iran’s Supreme Leader, said Arab countries are normalizing relations with Israel have sinned. According to him, they must reverse the move.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco have normalized relations with Israel in 2020, brokered by the United States (US).

Washington, under the administration of then-US president Donald Trump, made the restoration of Arab-Israeli relations a foreign policy priority.

“Some governments have unfortunately made mistakes — have made big mistakes and have sinned in normalizing (their relations) with the seizing and oppressive Zionist regime,” Khamenei said, referring to Israel, Sunday (24/10/2021).

“This is an act against the unity of Islam. They must return from this path and make amends for this grave mistake,” Khamenei said, in a speech marking a public holiday in honor of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. Times of Israel, Monday (10/25/2021).

Iran in the four decades since the 1979 Islamic revolution has positioned itself as a strong defender of the Palestinian cause and regularly threatens to annihilate the Jewish state.

Egypt and Jordan until last year were the only two Arab countries to maintain normal relations with Israel.

“If the unity of Muslims is achieved, the Palestinian problem will definitely be resolved in the best way,” Khamenei said.
