Chimène Badi is one of the rare public figures to dare to speak about a taboo subject: the non-desire of children. The singer does not want to procreate, and it is her right. This Wednesday, June 16, she was present alongside other women “Child Free” in the show It starts today (France 2) to testify.
Chimène Badi talks about the difficulty of being sterilized
There are more women who don’t want children than you might think. Some decide to resort to sterilization … But many come up against cautious doctors, who refuse to tie their tubes. Among the most heard excuses : “You are going to change your mind”, “you are too young”, etc. Infantilizing remarks, which imply that a woman will necessarily want to have children at some point in her life. This is what Chimène Badi told on the set of Faustine Bollaert, when another woman present on the set, Solveig, 29, explained that he had succeeded in going through the procedure.
“I am surprised, at 29 years old, I saw gynecologists who refused to tie tubes to women. Otherwise, it was from 40-45 years old, or you had to already have a child … “, says Chimène Badi. Sterilization was thus refused to her, depriving her of her right to dispose of her body as she wishes. However, her testimony did not surprise the other women present on the show. Solveig has thus confirmed that this refusal of the gynecologists, as badly experienced as it is by the patients, is far from being rare.e. “There are many difficulties in accessing this operation and it is so taboo that we pass the list of gynecologists under wraps”, explains the young woman.
Testimonies which show that, in 2021 in France, the non-desire of children is still a taboo subject, in particular when it concerns women. And the right of women to dispose of their bodies is still not respected.
